Poem for the Families of the 724th
Katharine Ilginis
4 Mar 2005
Dear Lori,
I like to write poetry and I wrote a poem for the families of the soldiers and the soldiers. I thought you might like it.
Thank you,
Katie Ilginis
Gone for a year
Unsure they will be coming back
Fighting for freedom
Never afraid to pick up the slack
Risking their lives
Amon rapid gunfire
Not thinking about oneself
But helping their foe
In the midst of all the haywire
They are brave and courageous
People we cannot help but love
They are the ones we are proud of
Ones we can still say are peaceful like doves
American Soldiers
Gone off to war
Fighting for safety and peace
Soon to come home
We cannot help but await their arrival
Praising their homecoming
Waiting to see them again
A year gone by
Full of pride for their country
They have given us courage
Given us strength
But all we want
Is to see our American Soldier again. ~Katharine Ilginis
